ACTION Heather
3. Matters arising
None
4. Progressing the research:
1) Finishing off the 7 dads personas
The group finished off this work, which is about understanding and inviting in all different types of fathers in Little Hulton, enabling them to help us and us to help them.
2) Funding update
Heather said she had written proposals for funding from the NHS, Comic Relief and the Director of Public Health in Salford, who may ask a range of partners to invest in further research. She is also was working on proposals from a funder called NESTA
3) Meeting the evaluation team on 4th June 11am
The group agreed to Skype the University team evaluating this work for about 10 minutes in order to be able to ask them anything about how the evaluation is being done, particularly measurement.
5. Events and activities:
1) CALLPlus event at Top Club
Five dads, Heather, John R and friends/spouses all went to Top Club in order to show support for a local charity and get to know each other socially, offering friendship. A great time was had by all, some difficulties such as anxiety were overcome.
For some it was the first time they had been out for between 2-10 years. One dad felt moved enough to write a blog on our discussion board expressing how he felt. All appreciated this.
2) Film night at St Paul Peel Church
This has been proposed as an idea by St Paul Peel Church for families and the group were fully supportive of it
3) Dads and kids club plans
The group is planning playing on Peel Park and wet weather plans are to go to the Children’s Centre. The group discussed some issues arising from the last time they used the Children’s Centre. They have discussed it with the manager. The group suggested doing a checklist to ensure all was in order when using the Children’s Centre and Heather suggested that one of the dads become a key holder.
Danny has offered a glow box to detect hand infection and the group thought this would be interesting for children at the next dads and kids club at the children’s centre.
One of the mums has donated a football table, it just needs a ball.
